Why the Netherlands is different
A small market with its own rules
The Netherlands is known for coffeeshops, but the industry here works differently from Germany, Spain or North America. Foreign companies often get the context wrong, and Dutch editors notice.
Dutch media publish in Dutch
Editors read English, but they rarely rewrite a foreign release themselves. A clean Dutch text is what gets picked up.
Tolerance is not legalisation
Coffeeshop sales are tolerated, production largely is not, and a regulated supply chain experiment runs in a limited number of municipalities. Releases that mix this up lose credibility.
Hemp, CBD and THC are separate worlds
Promotion of THC products is restricted under Dutch law, and health claims for CBD are not allowed. We adjust wording so your release can be published.

Questions from foreign companies
Can I submit my press release in English?
Yes. Upload it with the form and tick Dutch editing, and we prepare the Dutch version. If you already have a machine translation, include it: it speeds things up, and we still edit it.
Can I advertise without a press release?
Yes. Choose "advertising only" in the form and tick what interests you. We reply with availability and a proposal.
Who cannot advertise?
Dutch coffeeshops may not advertise to the public, and growers in the regulated cultivation experiment may not advertise at all. Seed banks, CBD brands, grow shops and other ancillary businesses can. If in doubt, ask us first.
Do I need a Dutch company or account?
No. Foreign companies send their request through this page and we handle the rest by email.
How do I pay?
After approval of your release you receive an invoice from Cannabis Media Groep. You can pay by bank transfer or PayPal. Publication follows once the payment is received.
What will you not publish?
Releases that promote THC products to consumers, make health claims for CBD or misrepresent the Dutch legal situation. In most cases we suggest changes instead of rejecting a release.
How long does it take?
That depends on the length of the text and the number of review rounds. Tell us your preferred date in the form and we plan backwards from it.
Can you also publish in German, Spanish or English media?
Yes, the platform distributes to international cannabis media as well. Mention it in your request and we include it in our proposal.
